The Give Back Initiative
For every Damai order received from September 2024 until the end of 2025, 5% of the order total will be donated to the Elephant Valley Project (EVP) in Mondulkiri, Cambodia.
After following the work of EVP for years, we are proud to partner up and support their impactful work. We believe in aligning our brand values with causes that are close to our hearts, and EVP's mission to protect and rehabilitate elephants and natural spaces in Cambodia resonates deeply with our commitment to sustainability and ethical responsibility.
Our Co-founder, Shauna, spent some time in Cambodia working alongside the EVP Team and their wonderful Eles. Here’s a little insight from her time there.
“I spent 2 months as an intern at EVP back in 2017 and absolutely loved it. The team’s dedication and drive is really inspiring and I was fortunate enough to be immersed in the daily running of the sanctuary alongside running my own project, which was building an English speaking program in the local area. I know that every penny donated gets put to good use, as they support not only the elephants, but also the staff, local communities and surrounding natural spaces. If you’re looking for a place to visit retired elephants that are now freely roaming in the forests; this is the place to go. Not to mention, they also offer the most delicious food ever during your tour or volunteer program - all cooked by locals and it is out of this world!” - Shauna
More about Elephant Valley Project (EVP)
The Elephant Valley Project (EVP) in Cambodia is a wonderful sanctuary nestled in the lush forests of Mondulkiri province. It's a safe haven for elephants that have been injured or overworked, offering them a peaceful place to roam freely and live without fear. Unlike traditional elephant tourism, EVP is all about ethical practices, putting the well-being and natural behavior of elephants first.
No Rides. No Tricks. Just Elephants.
Supporting the Elephant Valley Project is important for several reasons. First, it helps conserve Cambodia's dwindling elephant population, which faces threats from habitat loss and poaching. Second, EVP provides a sanctuary for elephants that have been neglected in captivity, allowing them to recover and thrive in a more natural environment. By supporting EVP, we're also helping local communities by offering employment and educational opportunities to the indigenous Bunong people, promoting sustainable tourism and conservation efforts. By helping EVP, we're standing up for animal welfare, conservation, and community empowerment in one of the world's most biodiverse regions.
